The Catawissa native is the No. 6 overall prospect, the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 1 Pennsylvania recruit in the 2020 class.

The Fleming File

  • Class: 2020
  • Size: 6-foot-2, 200 lbs.
  • Pos: WR
  • School: Southern Columbia, Catawissa, PA
  • Composite Rating: ★★★★★
  • Composite Rank: 1 (WR)

The top three schools Fleming had been showing the most interest in were Ohio State, Clemson and Penn State, which he had visited twice in 2019 and grew up 90 miles from. He also had offers from Alabama and Georgia and included both among his five finalists.

“For a while, I thought I was going to Penn State. Then for a while, I thought I was going to Clemson, and then I just finally settled down and figured it out,” Fleming told ESPN. “It was just the at-home feeling and their players. [Ohio State] puts their players first, and all my visits there, I had countless hours with all the players, so I really got the college vibe right away.”

Fleming visited Ohio State on March 23 for Ohio State’s Student Appreciation Day spring practice. Since that visit, he and Ohio State commit Lejond Cavazos have been in regular contact. The Florida cornerback had been pushing Fleming to commit to the Buckeyes.

Fleming developed a close relationship with Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline since November, which fueled much of Fleming’s interest in Ohio State.

As a junior in 2018, Fleming caught 78 passes for 1,524 yards and 22 touchdowns. His career totals are 183 receptions for 3,942 yards (21.5 yards per catch) and 55 touchdowns. Southern Columbia won two state titles with Fleming on the team in 2017 and 2018.

Fleming is the ninth commitment for the 2020 class and the third wide receiver. He becomes the second five-star wide receiver in as many classes that Ohio State has earned commitments from, as Garrett Wilson, who is competing for a spot in the starting rotation as a freshman, was the No. 2 wideout in the 2019 class. Fleming could see the same opportunity when he hits campus in 2020.
